201 anos da Batalha do Jenipapo nesta quarta (13) em Campo Maior
Evento será realizado no município de Campo Maior, palco onde ocorreu um dos embates mais importantes na luta pela independência do Brasil.
Governo do Piauí comemora 201 anos da Batalha do Jenipapo nesta quarta (13) em Campo Maior
O Governo do Piauí comemora, nesta quarta-feira (13), o 201° aniversário da Batalha do Jenipapo, em Campo Maior. O evento contará com a presença do governador em exercício, Themístocles Filho, do secretário de Estado da Cultura, Carlos Anchieta, e de outras autoridades.
A programação inicia às 9h com a solenidade Cívico-Militar, no Monumento Heróis do Jenipapo. Em seguida, será realizado o desfile militar, apresentação da peça teatral “A Batalha do Jenipapo”, e a outorga da Ordem Estadual do Mérito Renascença do Piauí a personalidades que fazem parte da história do Estado.
Às 12h, será realizada missa em ação de graças, na Catedral de Santo Antônio na Praça Bona Primo, em Campo Maior.
Dirigido por Franklin Pires, o espetáculo A Batalha do Jenipapo conta com 45 alunos da Escola de Teatro Gomes Campos, além de 68 atores e atrizes e ainda 10 cantores.
Segundo Franklin, entre outras novidades, o protagonismo negro estará à frente da Batalha do Jenipapo, servindo para além de contar o fato histórico, questionar o papel do negro nas lutas pela independência do Brasil.
A Batalha do Jenipapo foi um dos embates mais importantes na luta pela Independência do Brasil. Marcada pela união de maranhenses, cearenses e piauienses contra as tropas portuguesas, a batalha ocorreu no ano de 1823, às margens do rio Jenipapo, na então vila de Campo Maior, e foi um dos responsáveis pela consolidação da independência das terras brasileiras na região.
